Our work is primarily funded through state taxes; grants from government agencies (local, state, or federal), non-profits or foundations; and fee-for-service projects. These funding sources can fluctuate over time for a variety of reasons.
Interested individuals or organizations might further support our work through donations of money or in-kind contributions.
Examples of potential uses for donated funds include, but are not limited to:
- Sustainability site assessments for sectors not currently covered by grant-funded projects
- Purchasing equipment, software, or access to data
- Development of technical tools, guidance documents, data analyses, reports, case studies, videos, educational information, or similar resources to raise awareness, highlight best practices, underscore areas where further work is required, provide information, or make connections crucial for efficient and effective sustainable development.
- Development and provision of training for members of industry or the public
- Staff professional development and related efforts to maintain and expand expertise
- Demonstration projects or pilot studies
- Webinar series, workshops, or other special events
Examples of potential gifts-in-kind include, but are not limited to:
- Professional services
- Labor
- Equipment
- Machinery
- Supplies
Donated equipment or machinery could assist our staff with providing site assessments or demonstrating alternative technologies or processes. In-kind contributions of professional services or labor might be counted toward matching funds obligations on federal grants.
